SHEPARD EXPOSITION SERVICES INCREASES FUNDING COMMITMENT TO APEX

McLean, Virginia – January 5, 2004 – Shepard Exposition Services recently made a significant contribution to support the Convention Industry Council’s APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange) initiative. The Atlanta, Georgia-based company increased its support of The Campaign for APEX to $25,000, up from an original $3,000 commitment.

Carl Mitchell, president of Shepard Exposition Services said, “In addition to showing our commitment to the industry, we made a strategic decision from a business perspective to increase our support of the campaign. With a new donor recognition program in place, Shepard will receive valuable benefits and visibility for its support of the campaign.”

“Our new recognition program has been carefully designed to ensure that funders of all levels and industry segments are recognized appropriately,” says Richard Green, vice president of industry relations and association sales for Marriott International and chair of the APEX Campaign. “We hope it will encourage others within the industry to follow Shepard’s lead.”

“Although the APEX donor recognition program played a role in our decision to increase our contribution, Shepard Exposition Services feels strongly that best practices will make our industry better and more professional,” commented Mitchell. “I am convinced that the acceptance of these practices by the industry will greatly enhance the likelihood of future success. We are happy to be associated with and show our support for such a important program within the industry.”

Mary Power, president of the Convention Industry Council was delighted to hear of Shepard’s increased contribution. “The success of APEX rests in the hands of the industry. Without it’s support, APEX would not be possible. This donation has definitely driven the initiative into the new year with great enthusiasm.”

Shepard Exposition Services was founded in 1905 and is an owner-operated full service general exposition contactor with a long-standing reputation for making business a pleasure.
