2004 APEX ANNUAL REPORT NOW LIVE ON CIC WEBSITE
Annual report highlights the accomplishments and impacts of the
Accepted Practices Exchange

McLean, VA – January 12, 2005 – The Convention Industry Council’s APEX initiative has achieved a number of successes in its work to develop accepted practices for the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry. Accomplishments are documented in the 2004 APEX Annual Report, now available on the CIC website (www.conventionindustry.org).

Elements of the Annual Report include:

  • Accepted practices that have been finalized and the tools that are available to implement them.
  • Accepted practices that are currently in development and a review of the tools that will result.
  • A review of the vast industry involvement that has made APEX possible.
  • Highlights of implementation activities that are happening.
  • Answers to the question, “What’s In It For Me?” These answers drive the message that the APEX initiative will impact all sectors of the industry and that every aspect of APEX works together for the industry.

APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange), an initiative of the Convention Industry Council, is developing and implementing industry-wide accepted practices which are creating and enhancing efficiencies throughout the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry.

The Convention Industry Council's 31 member organizations represent more than 98,000 individuals and 15,000 firms and properties involved in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry. Formed in 1949 to provide a forum for member organizations seeking to enhance the industry, the CIC facilitates the exchange of information, develops programs to promote professionalism within the industry, and educates the public on its profound economic impact. In addition to the APEX initiative, the CIC is also responsible for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Program, the Hall of Leaders, and the CIC Economic Impact Study.
