CIC Recognizes Center for Exhibition Industry Research White Paper

McLean, VA – March 28, 2005 – The Convention Industry Council (CIC) offers its congratulations to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) today in response to CEIR’s recent release of its White Paper: Space Available…The Rest of the Story a commentary and response to the Brookings Institution Research Brief published earlier this year.

“CIC salutes CEIR’s efforts,” said Mary E. Power, CAE, president and CEO of CIC. “We feel strongly that the factual data included in this paper is critical to understanding the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry as a whole.”

The CIC board of directors, who received a copy of the paper at its recent meeting held in Washington DC on March 10, 2005, has agreed to post this document on the CIC website to be used as a reference for the industry. The document can be found on the CIC website at: http://www.conventionindustry.org

The Convention Industry Council’s 30 member organizations represent more than 98,000 individuals as well as 15,000 firms and properties involved in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry. Formed in 1949 to provide a forum for member organizations seeking to enhance the industry, the CIC facilitates the exchange of information and develops programs to promote professionalism within the industry and educates the public on its profound economic impact.
