Please forward this newsletter to others involved in the meeting, convention, & exhibition industry. The monthly APEX E-News is an effort to provide timely information and updates on the APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange) initiative to all volunteers, funders and general industry members. APEX is an industry-wide initiative that is developing the best accepted practices for the meeting, convention and exhibition industry with the goal of streamlining the way the industry does business. ================================ I. APEX VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH: Rich Matthes & Bruce Small Nominated by their peers, this month's volunteers of note are Rich Matthes, Manager, Product Strategy & Marketing for Newmarket International, and Bruce Small, Director of Sales Information Systems for Hyatt Hotels Corporation. As members of the APEX Technology Advisory Council (TAC), both have been instrumental in several areas recently. Both of these gentlemen are serving as the TAC liaisons to the APEX History/Post Event Reports Panel. With their help a prototype for documenting specific requirements received from the panel has been created to help translate information to be captured and shared into the APEX Data Map. The data specification guide, a culmination of each panel's work, will chart the course to implementation of APEX accepted practices for technology providers and others that maintain their own computer systems. This is a BIG job, to say the least. Additionally, Rich has been instrumental in arranging for the use of "Virtual Classroom" for the TAC's next series of online meetings. Going virtual will allow small working groups to meet without the confines of travel, weather etc. EJ Siwek, CMP chair of the TAC notes that this assistance will greatly assist in our efforts to maintain and update the current work in progress. The upcoming virtual schedule will be announced shortly to all members of TAC. Do you know of someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty for APEX? To nominate a "Volunteer of the Month," send an email with the person's name and an explanation of why you think he or she should be recognized. City Discussion Groups (CDG) are a vital part of the development of accepted industry practices for the meeting, convention, and exhibition industry, providing an open forum through which industry members on the local level can participate and be heard. Upcoming meetings include:
