I. MATCH PLAY – TEST YOUR TERMINOLOGY KNOWLEDGE

The APEX Industry Glossary is available on-line at glossary.conventionindustry.org. This FREE resource includes more than 3700 entries and allows users to:

  • Click hyperlinks in terms and definitions to see other relevant information within the glossary and in external web sites.
  • Search within terms and definitions to find specific information.
  • Request a listing of terms by category. For instance, all food & beverage related terms in the glossary can be listed at once.
  • Suggest new terms and definitions to be considered for inclusion, or recommend modifications to existing terms and definitions.

Test your knowledge of industry terminology! Below is a list of ten terms (numbered 1-10) from the Glossary. Below the terms are ten definitions (lettered A-J). Try to match each term to the correct definition without looking them up. Be careful…Each definition can only be used once!

Answers will be posted in next month’s newsletter. Good Luck!

III. HELP NEEDED – REPORTS FOR REVIEW

The fifth and sixth panels of the APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange) initiative have submitted reports for industry review. The Preliminary Report of the APEX Meeting & Site Profiles Panel and the Preliminary Report of the APEX Requests for Proposals (RFPs) Panel are available online at www.conventionindustry.org.

These reports outline the work to-date of the panels and describe the process by which members of the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry can provide input on the panels’ preliminary recommendations for accepted practices in these topic areas.
