| Emeritus CMPs TM Jackson, CMP For more than thirty years, I have been involved in meeting planning and related functions. For the past twelve years I have served as the General Conference Coordinator and Planner for a large religious organization. Our annual attendance ranges from 15,000 to 20,000; therefore, I work very closely with the Convention and Visitors Bureaus, utilizing up to 20 hotels, convention centers, and arenas. Since receiving my CMP designation ten years ago, I have enjoyed more valid recognition as a meeting planner when conversing with the respective providers and suppliers. It has been my privilege to attend a majority of the RCMA annual meetings since its inception in 1972 in Louisville, Kentucky. This year we convened again in Louisville for the 35th Annual RCMA Conference and, it was my privilege to present the President’s Award to Marjorie Horner who is also a Certified Meeting Planner. This year’s meeting was among the top three in attendance and numerous people stated it was the best and most productive ever. These and many other interesting experiences allow me to definitely express that acquiring the CMP designation has enhanced my career and functionality as a qualified meeting planner. Negotiating contracts and meeting details is certainly a daunting task; however, more and more, the industry recognized the importance of experience and qualification enhanced by the CMP designation. Therefore, it is vitally important to me that I retain the CMP Designation.
