CIC Manual Updates

Important Edits

The Convention Industry Council (CIC) is proud of its new edition of the
CIC Manual, produced by a team of industry volunteers, CIC staff and professional editors. Since its publication, we have received positive feedback, but also discovered a few errors. Please check this page regularly for new updates to the 7th edition.

Break-Even Analysis

Page 30 (right hand column, "Break-Even Analysis") currently reads: "Add the total fixed costs and the variable costs. Then divide that sum by the number of attendees to determine the registration fee you must charge to break even.

Registration fee =

Total Fixed Costs + Variable Costs
Number of Attendees

CORRECT: The total fixed costs should be divided by the number of attendees. Then add the variable costs per person.

Registration fee =
Total Fixed Costs
Number of Attendees
+ Variable Costs per person
